Dorset: A County For All Seasons

Hi again.

Sorry we haven't been in touch recently, but since we opened our feet haven’t touched the ground…which has been absolutely fantastic. So a big thank you to all of our guests this year who have made it such an unbelievable start for us.

We’ve had all age groups and all backgrounds, lots of different nationalities and loads of laughs with them; together with some early mornings and late nights…all in the name of customer service!

Now we’ve quietened down a little we thought we should look forward to the Autumn (and hasn’t it been fabulous so far?), Winter and Spring.

If any of you think Dorset is just a summer destination- think again. It is a fantastic county with something to offer everybody no matter what time of year.

Home Farm House is within easy reach of lots of different attractions, ranging from Salisbury, Stonehenge and Avebury to the North, the New Forest, Southampton and Winchester to the East, Shaftesbury, (he were a grand baker our grandad), Sherborne and some stunning scenery to the West and too much to mention to the South.

Dorset For You is always promoting what is going on throughout the year- and their website is full of events, festivals and ideas for all the family, and here are just a sample:

For the foodies among you, we have the Dorset Food Week starting on Saturday 24 October and The ScreenBites Food Film Festival starting Thursday 22 October…we’re going to see Far from the Madding Crowd and enjoy some local produce.

Another early warning:- there is a Wiggle ‘Bitter Beast’ Ride on 15 November…anyone who wants to join Graham on the 70 miler, please get in touch. You’re welcome to return to HFH for a Jason Vale rapid recovery juice, hot soup and crusty fresh made bread and a lovely hot shower.

And perhaps one for your diaries next year is the Dorset Knob Throwing Festival – honestly!

We’re already getting booked out for the Trytri Triathlon weekend at St Giles House, just a 'Knob's' throw way'from here, in May, so any budding or accomplished triathletes, who don’t like camping, need to get on yer bike and book.

Tarra a bit
